Best age to photograph a newborn

Here is how the newborn baby will act for the days old they are
3-4 day old was a little fussy, but sometimes I think that fussiness comes from the anxiety of the parents. The more relaxed you are the faster the baby will sleep. Please know I will get pictures even if it takes an hour for your baby to sleep.
7-8 days are best because they sleeping and feeding schedule is more established.

9/10 -cluster feeding much harder because they want to keep eating every hour

Sending photo sessions over the internet.

If your client need their photos asap and you want to send them their photos from their photo session this site is great you can send up to 2 GBs over the net. It’s great for when your if something goes wrong and the mailman doesn’t get their photos on time or loses it. I have you used it a couple times and love it. Just tell your client in the email that then need to click download and they have their files instantly. It’s fast but slow to upload. I use it to send family pictures as well. I LOVE it and it’s 100% free no charges.

DVD/CD cases and DVD/CD printing

If your looking for buying DVD or CD cases in bulk this place online has great prices. They are super durable and well made wrapped individually so the tin does not have any scratches. I LOVE them and and have been using them for over a year now. If your looking to create DVD label’s for your photography business your clients will love these if you give digital images on a disk.

Here are the cases I used, if your creating CD’s with a label on them either from your printer or from Lightscribe these will look great!

Epson Artisan: prints labels.

Here is a good one a friend used that she loved. I bought it and loved it as well.

Lightscribe burner. I used this for a LONG time a few years. Not this particular one. My husband’s HP laptop has it built in. My clients LOVED them because I created the label from the photos from their session.  You do need to buy the specific lightscribe DVD/CD’s though for it to work because they have a smooth top on them to burn the image on. This one below had good reviews though.

What to charge for photo sessions at beginning of starting a photography business

I have two friends that are just starting out that want to have some questions answered.

I have family members that want me to take their pics and they want to know how much and I just don’t know what is reasonable for an amateur just starting out. I want to be compensated for my time obviously but am not to sure on what is a reasonable fee.   I was thinking around $100-$150.  Does that sound reasonable to you for shoot and pics on CD?

First ask yourself this question as your first starting out

1. What am I trying to achieve by taking pictures of a few friends families?

2. What is the most important purpose when I first start offering the photo sessions to them? Is your main concern to make an extra $100 or is your main concern to generate clients?

If your main concern is to generate lots of clients and you want to get your business up and running with tons of clients then start your prices at a low price such as $50-75. I know what your thinking it’s very low, you aren’t trying to make money at the moment you have either a 2nd job while you get this business going. The point the price being low is you will get your name out there very fast if you follow a few steps that are in my book.

If you want to make a little extra money on the side $100 each time is a great little extra pocket money to play around with till you get your confidence up as you build your portfolio.  As you work your skills will improve slowing over time.

If you would like my secret how I was able to make more money you have to buy my Professional Photography Business Toolbox book. It will be coming out in a few months, I just need to get a professional proofreader and it’s going out to be sold online as an ebook and hopefully then a hard copy to follow. The ebook you will be able to download!!!
